Sanliurfa: also known as the “City of Prophets”, Sanliurfa was home to the Old Testament prophets Jethro, Job, Elijah, and Abraham. Also, the prophet Moses lived in this region and worked as a shepherd before returning to Egypt. We will visit the pool of Abraham (Ibrahim), which tell the story of God saving Abraham from a wicked king who wanted to kill Abraham by throwing him into a fire pit. The fire turned to water and logs into fish, the pool which we will witness.
Harran: dated back to as far as the 3rd Millenium, this was an important city during the Mesopotamian era. This whole region was central to the trade routes between the Tigris Plains and the Mediterranean. Later, Harran was home to Prophet Abraham and is mentioned both in the Bible and Quran. It is also famous for having been home to one of the earliest known universities in the world and the place where the Roman Emperor Caracalla was murdered in 217. Harran is also known for its adobe houses made of mud and clay, resembling bee hives.
Gobekli Tepe: located near the city of Sanliurfa, Gobeklitepe is considered to be the oldest megalithic religious site in the world, from 11,500 years ago. These Neolithic ruins predate the Egyptian Pyramids, with its youngest layer – The Pre-Pottery Neolithic layer – dated to between 8300 and 7400 BCE. Discovered only recently, Gobekli Tepe is the earliest known evidence of monumental human-made architecture so far.
End of the tour: Having the tour finished, be transferred to the airport in Sanliurfa for a flight back to Istanbul. Upon arrival, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
