Ephesus is one of the greatest outdoor museums in Turkey, perhaps the world.

The ruins of Ephesus are a favourite attraction to both international and local tourists, Partly owing to their easy accessibility from the airport in Izmir and via the port of Kusadasi.

Ephesus

It is located to the South of Izmir’s Selcuk County. Ephesus was one of the seven churches of Asia cited in the Book of Revelation. It was a coastal city with a population of 1/4 million. Ephesus became the second largest city of Roman Empire.

Ephesus contains the largest collection of Roman ruins in the Eastern Mediterranean. Only an estimated 15% has been excavated.

Tour starts from upper entrance gate. Visit the Baths of Varius, Odeon, Prytaneion, Fountain of Polio, Temple of Hadrian, Temple of Domitian, Library of Celsus.

Great Theater and Harbor Street with the Necropolis will also be visited.

The Temple of Artemis

One of the original seven wonders of ancient world which was a famous place of pilgrimage for centuries.

House of Virgin Mary

Discovered in a vision by a bedridden German nun in 1812, this stone building is believed by many Catholics and Muslims to be where the Virgin Mary lived her last years. There is also a healing fountain.

End of tour, transfer to Izmir airport for an evening flight back to Istanbul. Transfer to your hotel in Istanbul.
